Abstract

Latches, sliding; fastenings operated mechanically from a distance; reversible Latches.-A remote control lock particularly for automobile doors comprises a lock unit and a control unit provided with a reversible actuator arm p; to permit of right or left hand assembly of the control unit. Fig. 2 shows the control unit reversed. The latch bolt b is actuated by turning a handle o on the door to rotate a stud n thereby rocking the arm p which pulls the draft member g. The draft bar g has slots at each end to fit over headed lugs and forms a lost motion connection if the latch bolt sticks. The spring w can be easily detached from its slot v in the stud n and reversed to press on the actuator arm p in the opposite direction when reversed. This spring w holds the actuator arm p against the housing and prevents rattling. A small spring t to distance the draft bar from the actuator arm p also prevents rattling.
