Buckles.-The straps of a surgical apparatus for applying tension to the spine are secured bv buckles constructed as shown in Fig. 5, in which the strap passes through a slotted sliding member 27 having the two transverse edges of the slot serrated. The strap is gripped between one of the serrated edges and the edge 29 of the buckle, as shown in Fig. 6.
