Control mechanism for motor-cycle handle-bars &c. comprises a hand-lever e pivoted at d to a fixed plate, c and at f to a tube g, which telescopes upon or in a second tube h pivoted at i to the plate c. An operating-wire k passes through both tubes and is connected to the tube g by a cross-piece n, the pivots being so arranged that a substantially straight pull is exerted on the wire. The casing of the wire k abuts against an adapter l fitted into the outer end of the tube h.
