Abstract

A motor driven window winding mechanism for a vehicle panel having an operating shaft thereon which is rotatable to effect raising and lowering of a window, includes a reduction gear unit (12) drivingly coupled to the motor and to be mounted on the operating shaft (50) for rotating that shaft, and sensing means (52, 55, 61) for sensing reactive torque produced in the gear unit (12) during operation and controlling operation of the motor in accordance therewith, for example, by de-energising or reversing the motor upon a predetermined reactive torque being sensed. The sensing means senses predetermined displacement of the reduction gear unit (12) around the operating shaft axis against the action of a spring (60) resulting from reactive torque produced therein. <IMAGE>
