Abstract
206,312. Brownlow, F. E. Sept. 23, 1922. Lever-actuated pumps; stroke, varying; cleaning; single-acting piston pumps ; pumps for viscous liquids; delivery spouts ; suction reservoirs ; materials, special. - The liquid passes from a hopper 1 through a valve 20 into the barrel 4 and is forced by a piston 5 past a valve 22 to a nozzle 23, which may have a piercer 24 at the end. The piston may be made of fibre, and is actuated by a lever 6 pivoted to a fixed yoke and connected by a pin and slot to a yoke piece 15 in the piston rod 11 .An extension 10 of the rod is guided in one end 8<a> of the fixed yoke and carries an adjustable abutment 16 to limit the inward stroke of the piston. The nozzle 23 may be attached to the barrel by a union nut 30 so that nozzles of various sizes may be used. The tray 26 carrying the articles to be filled is adjustably carried by a plate 32 held in place by the nut 30. The pump may be cleaned by screwing into a hole 34 a fitting 33 comprising a non-return valve 35 the stem 36 of which carries a nut 37, filling the hopper with hot water, working the piston, and then opening the valve 35 so that the residual water may drain away through a passage 38.
