Motor power plant.- A steam turbine instal lation for two shafts comprises high and low pressure cylinders 1, 2 on one shaft, and inter. mediate and low-pressure cylinders 4, 5 on the other shaft, the in. termediate-pressure cy linder 4 being designed for two-pressure opera tion and provided with a high-pressure stage or stages for the utiliza tion of high-pressure steam prior to its passage through the intermediate-pressure stage and with separate nozzles for the supply of intermediate-pressure steam to the whole circumference of the moving blades of the intermediate-pressure stage. The portion of the circumference of the wheel of this auxiliary highpressure stage which is not opposite the highpressure nozzles is shielded by a casing from the entering intermediate-pressure steam. With the pipes and valves shown in the Figure, the highpressure turbine 1 may discharge either into the low-pressure turbines 2, 5 direct or by way of the intermediate-pressure turbine 4 ; and the turbine 4. when cut-off from the turbine 1, may have live steam supplied to its high-pressure stage, and may discharge into one or both low-pressure turbines. The steam may be reheated between the turbines 1, 4 by using the pipes 15, 16, 17, 18, and steam for feed-heaters may be tapped by means of pipes 19, 20.
