Abstract

206,199. Lake, W. E., (Tate, W. R.). July 24, 1922. Combined aerating and bottling apparatus; forcing gas into liquid; siphon bottles.-Apparatus for aerating liquids in which gas is allowed to enter a siphon bottle or like container through a valve controlled by the action of the pressure of the gas in the bottle on a diaphragm or like flexible member. The gas chamber 5 serves as a stand for the bottle 1 and is provided with an inner chamber 19 for the diaphragm 20, which is held in place by a threaded block 19<a>. Into the block 19<a> is screwed a nut 32 on which bears a spring 34 controlling the movements of the diaphragm, so that by turning the nut 32 the pressure of the spring can be regulated. Gas enters the chamber 19 through an opening controlled by the valve 22 attached to the diaphragm, and passes to the bottle 1 by a passage. 18 terminating in a nozzle 3 on which is mounted a perforated cap 14, enclosing a swirling chamber 16. A hanel-operated valve may be placed in the passage 18. The chamber 5 can be charged through a valve 39.
