Abstract

671,365. Aerating liquids. ZUCKER, J. Nov. 9, 1948 [Aug. 19, 1948], No. 29094/48. Class 14 (i). In an apparatus for the carbonation of liquid the liquid is forced under pressure by a pump 1 to a jet and diffuser device 4, 5 wherein the liquid is pre-carbonated with carbon dioxide drawn through a tube 7 from a settling and storage tank 6 for the liquid. The liquid passes from thediffuser to an atomising device 9 which sprays the liquid against the side of the tank to release the dissolved air from the liquid which is then further carbonated by settling through a zone of carbon dioxide in the vessel 6. Carbon dioxide is fed into the tank through ports 11 near the top of the tank and the atomising device 9 is located at or above this level. Air is removed from the vessel 6 at 10a and carbonated liquid is drawn off at 10. In a preferred embodiment, Fig. 2, not shown, a pair of jet and diffuser devices are used and the tank contains a float which regulates the amount of carbon dioxide supplied from pressure cylinders through a pressure reduction valve, and if necessary after preheating.
