Abstract

1,117,482. Refrigerating. R. W. G. LOVE and E. H. MELLOR [trading as LOVE, MELLOR & CO.]. 31 Aug., 1965 [10 Sept., 1964], No. 37202/65. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] Apparatus for chilling drinking vessels comprises a non-planar platform for receiving the inverted vessel, a spray head projecting beyond one surface of the platform and means for supplying a liquid refrigerant from a container to the spray head for discharge into the vessel. As shown, the apparatus comprises a casin 10 enclosing a pressurized liquid refrigerant container 17 of the aerosol type and having a vertically movable ribbed platform 13 formed integrally with a spray head 20. In use, a glass 23 is placed on the cover and pressed downwardly to cause the cover to depress the vertically arranged outlet tube of container 17. The tube in turn actuates valve means within the container to supply refrigerant to the spray head. In a modification (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown) the valve means (29) are located in a bore extending through a cylindrical casing (27), the platform (26) and spray head (25) being mounted on a valve member (37). The casing (27) rests on a bar counter (28) and the valve body extends through an aperture in the latter for connection to a liquid refrigerant source which may supply several such spray heads. The refrigerant is preferably diohlorodifluoromethane.
