Abstract

206,024. Hewetson, A. R. Nov. 20, 1922. Connecting uppers to insoles and soles.-A flexible member is stitched to the insole at the edge, and subsequently secured between the welt and the outer sole. A thin strip of leather 4, Fig. 2, may be stitched at its edges to the insole and then slit up the middle. After lasting and the attachment of the welt, the free edges of the strip are turned over and may be cemented to the welt. The outer sole is then attached as usual. In a modification, the flexible strip extends completely around the perimeter of the insole. The invention is particularly applicable to children's shoes.
