[Class 17 (ii)] In a shoe having an upper and a lining or a double upper, or a double vamp or front, the lining or inner upper is lasted on to a lipped or flanged insole and the upper or outer upper is turned outwards as in a Veldtschoen, and secured to a bottom member such as an intermediate or through sole or a wide welt or rand, the bottom member being secured to the lining or inner upper by a seam between the peripheral edge of the insole and the opposing inner face of the lining or inner upper so as not to engage the insole. As shown, the lining or inner upper 14 is lasted to a lipped insole 1 being secured thereto by an inseam 15. After trimming and pounding up the inseam, a bottom member 16 having a groove 18 to accommodate the inseam, or a welt, is secured to the inner upper by a seam 17 clear of the insole. The upper or outer upper portion 19 is then out-turned and secured by a seam 20 to the bottom member 16 or to a welt, and an outer sole is attached by a seam 22. This construction may extend around the forepart and waist only, terminating at or near the heel breast, and the insole may be formed by making an incision in the edge, removing the lower flap produced thereby and bending up the upper flap and attaching it to a marginal flap produced by channelling the flesh side to form the lip or flange 2. A layer of canvas may be interposed between the lining or inner upper and the outer upper particularly at the forepart and waist.
