Abstract
204,744. Isherwood, E. H., and Gee, A. H. June 8, 1922. Carding-engines. - In an arrangement employing two sets of flats an adjustable plate is arranged over the surface of the cylinder between the sets. The plate h, Fig. 2, is adjustable towards and away from the cylinder by set-screws h<5> to regulate the amount of short fibres and waste taken from the cylinder by the first series of flats d<1> The plate is in two parts h<3>, h<4> adjustable towards one another, a bracket h<1> with screws h<2> securing them in position. The two sets of flats d<1>, d<2>, Fig. 1, are driven by worm gearing 0<SP>1>, 0<SP>2> from the shaft g<8>. A cam g on this shaft operates the stripping combs for the flats. the second series is stripped by a comb carried by pivoted arms g<3>. The first series is stripped by a comb f<1> operated through a link g<5> from the rooming pivot of the arms g<5>. The strippings from the first series are collected in a receptacle r above the adjustable plate h.
