Abstract
204,590. Garrett & Sons, Ltd., R., and Luiggi, M. L. Nov. 24, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Compound or articulated road vehicles.- Relates to six-wheeled vehicles in which a four-wheeled leading vehicle or tractor is combined with a twowheeled trailer, the centres of the intermediate and rear axles being kept a constant distance apart and the rear wheels deflected so as to track always with the intermediate wheels. The leading vehicle 1 is provided with steering wheels 2 and driving wheels 4 and the trailer body 14 is supported upon the rear of the leading vehicle and upon the trailing wheels 6. A. draw bar 9 connects the vertical pins 10, 11 on the centres of the intermediate wheels 4 and trailing wheels 6. The axle of the trailing wheels is deflected for steering by means of a frame 8 having a forward extension 12 with a forked end which engages slidably the end of a projection 13 on the rear of the frame 1 of the leading vehicle. In a modification, the trailer wheels are mounted on swivelling axles on the ends of the main axle and are connected by links to a pivoted bar corresponding to the extension 12. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 206,219.
