Abstract

An electrical assembly or component 14 has connecting wires 1 for insertion into bores 3 of a circuit board 4. At least one of the connecting wires 1 has an annular bead 5 for limiting the depth of insertion. The underside 6 of the bead 5 has an unsymmetrical and/or uneven face and/or has at least one recess or bevelling and/or lobe. Thus, when the assembly or component 14 is mounted on the circuit board 4 with its connecting wires 1 through bores 3 therein, a gap 11 is left between the upper surface 10 defining the bore 3 and the wire 1 to allow gases and the like evolved during soldering to escape. <IMAGE>
