Abstract

A socket for a signal or indicator lamp permits the lamp to be replaced from the front and ensures a reliable contacting. In the arrangement shown, there is formed, between a lamp 9 and a sleeve 1, a forwardly-open annular chamber 16 which is closed off at the rear by a collar 12 of the lamp. A forwardly- presented radial annular surface 15 of the collar 12 is forced by a resilient counter-contact 14, from the rear, against the free ends 6', 7', 8' of spring tongues 6, 7, 8 of the sleeve which project into the annular chamber 16. The lamp 9 can be inserted by pushing it in the direction of arrow P whereby first the collar 12 pushes aside the tongues 6, 7, 8, and subsequently the said tongues resile in front of surface 15. The lamp can be removed by pushing a tube into chamber 16 to force back the tongues 6, 7, 8, and then withdrawing the lamp together with said tube. <IMAGE>
