Abstract

1,156,188. Two-part couplings; lampholders. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. 18 Aug., 1967 [4 Oct., 1966], No. 44280/66. Heading H2E. A lampholder, or other socket connector, has a resilient insulating body 1 with annular flanges 3 and 4 which, when the body 1 is snap-fitted into a panel aperture, engage opposite faces of the panel. As shown, the body 1 includes an axially-slotted skirt 7 which grips the envelope of an inserted capless lamp. Contacts 11, Fig. 4, which are press-fitted into the body 1, each include a pair of arms 9, 10 for straddling the lamp base, the arms 10 being resilient and the arms 9 being rigid with orthogonally-bent portions 12. In a modification (Figs. 6-9, not shown) the rearward flange 3 is replaced by a shoulder (16) formed on a cylindrical wall (15) which surrounds the upper part of the body and which includes a slot (15a) for engaging a locating notch (c) on the panel, the contacts (11a) being retained by springy tongues (11b).
