Abstract

A radial shaft-seal for a crankshaft 1, includes a sealing ring 4 provided with a sealing lip 5 and disposed between a casing part 7 and the shaft is surrounded by an annular housing 3 which is vulcanised, as at 9, to the ring 4 and also encloses a fabric ring 6, disposed in advance of the sealing ring 4, which bears against and is rotationally fast with the sealing ring. The annular housing 3, sealing ring 4 and fabric ring 6 may form a unit. The housing may be formed with two steps 3a, 3b, the fabric ring bearing against the step 3b of smaller diameter. A cover plate 13 attached to the shaft may project into an annular space 12 between the casing part 7 and the step 3b of smaller diameter. <IMAGE>
