Abstract

An instantly cookable dry soup mix is prepared from a mixture of powdered dried stock, suitable amounts of one or more other dried ingredients and lightly fried "won ton" crusts, and the mixture is sealed in a cup-shaped container made of foamed polystyrene. Boiling water is poured into the container and the contents are allowed to stand for a few minutes after stirring. "Won ton" crusts consist of flour dumplings. The dried stock may comprise powdered milk, starch, powdered potato, vegetable oil, seasoning, salt, lactose, meat extract, marine products and/or vegetables. Other dried ingredients are selected from vegetables, meats, chicken, marine products, eggs, bacon, ham and boiled fish pastes.
