Abstract

An inverse time lag over-current release arrangement for an electrical distribution system, especially one operating at a voltage of 1000v A.C. or 1200v D.C. maximum, incorporates means for deriving a d.c. control voltage proportional to the current I and for applying said voltage to a capacitor charging circuit, means for causing the capacitor to charge only when the current flow exceeds a set value Is, and a level detector arranged to generate a tripping signal when the voltage across the capacitor reaches a selected level, with the time taken for the tripping signal to be generated being given by <IMAGE> where k is a constant within the range 20 to 120 and <IMAGE> lies within the range 1 to 8.
