Abstract

A drain valve comprises a housing 10 with a chamber 15 therein, and a valve closure element 19 axially movable in the chamber 15 between a valve seat 17 at an outlet 18 to the atmosphere and a valve seat 16 at an inlet 14 to be connected to a tank containing air under pressure. The valve closure element 19 is normally held against one of said valve seats 16, 17 but may be displaced to engage the other seat 16 or 17 and thereby release condensate by means of a solenoid having a coil 22 at least partly surrounding the chamber 15 and able to serve for heating the interior of the housing 10. The supply of current to the solenoid coil 22 may be controlled by switch means including a contact 26 movable by a relay coil 27 connected to a stop-light circuit of a vehicle. <IMAGE>
