Abstract

191,650. Wilson, P., and Younghusband, A. March 6, 1922. Folding and collapsable seats; head and back rests.-A portable seat consists of a strip of canvas attached to a back rest comprising side members adapted to be driven into the ground, transverse members connecting the side members, stays connected to the side mem. bers, and means associated with the stays to maintain them taut. The side members 1 carry an adjustable head-rest 29 which when folded may be carried with the back-rest in a pocket 27 in the canvas strip 23. The transverse members 2, 3 are attached by pins 16, 19 to the side members 1, and are held rigidly engaged by stays 4 radiating from centrally disposed plates 5. The ends of the stays are attached by links 7 to the plates 5 which are curved apart to tighten the stays by turning a partially threaded screw member 8 with a butterfly head 9. The canvas strip 23 is provided with a handle and straps for convenience in carrying the collapsed seat.
