Abstract
5331. Southey, A. W. March 2. Oil gas.-Fuels of high flash point are vaporized by being sprayed in excess and partially burnt, the flame being automatically extinguished before the main air zone is reached. Fuel from the float-chamber 0 enters the orifice H<1> in the nozzle H and is sprayed by a blast of gases from the engine cylinder. The gases are admitted at N<1> past a normally-open valve L which closes against a spring M immediately before the explosion takes place. Air for partial combustion is admitted at C, and ignition is effected by a spark plug P. The air to be carburetted enters by the flap valve E, and the mixture passes a throttle valve G provided with extra-air ports G<2>. Specification 4006/13 is referred to.
