9689. Schnell, A. April 24. [Addition to 14,948/11.] Building blocks.-The hollow wall described in the parent Specification is modified by making both faces of the wall of porous material but with the outer face covered by a non-porous layer; or angular blocks or flat slabs are arranged so that the inner face only is porous. Fig. 1 shows a wall cast in situ and made of cinder or charcoal concrete with a non-porous facing b<1>; Fig. 3 shows L-shaped porous blocks, and Fig. 4 shows hollow blocks with a partition k which may be placed transversely of the block. Fig. 5 shows a wall built up of L-shaped blocks each having one limb porous and the other non- porous; Z-shaped blocks may be similarly formed with one limb porous. The transverse portions of the blocks may touch the opposite faces, or ventilating-spaces may be left between them. Separate porous and non-porous blocks or slabs may be used for the inner and outer faces respectively, the parts in contact being asphalted. Such walls may be built of T or L-shaped blocks, or of flat slabs a, Fig. 16, combined with L- shaped blocks b; the slabs a may be made of charcoal concrete, pumice-stone, concrete, fired clay, sand, slag, or the like, and may be laid on their flat faces. Fig. 17 shows a wall built up of flat porous slabs with a non-porous outer facing b<2>.
