Abstract

113,689. Dods, A. March 19, 1917. Fire-proof coverings. - Interlocking voussoir blocks for casings for columns &c. are shaped ns shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the two shapes of blocks alternating circumferentially as shown in Fig. 1. The pairs of parallel surfaces a<5>, a<6>, Fig. 2, slope to the centre line towards the outside of the block, and the surfaces a<7> are substantially at right angles to the surfaces a<5>, a<6>. The surfaces b<5>, b<6>, b<7>, Fig. 3, are shaped to correspond. The blocks may be solid or hollow, and may be provided with central ribs a<3>, b<3>. A branch pipe, Fig. 5, may ber formed integral with one of the blocks or be cemented in a hole therein. The blocks are preferably made of salt glazed vitrified clay, and the zig-zag joints lock the cement between the blocks and prevent leakage.
