Combinations of interdependent valves. - Inflammable liquids are distributed at various points of a single system of piping leading from a reservoir in which the liquid is stored under pressure of an inert gas, by means of a number of cocks so constructed that, when all the cocks are closed, the liquid in the pipe runs back into the reservoir, thus avoiding danger of fire caused by breakage of the pipe. Fig. 2 shows the arrangement of the apparatus, and Fig. 1 shows one of the cocks. The draw-off valve D of each cock is normally held closed by a spring arranged beneath it, and is opened by the descent of a tail-piece g carried by a valve B which can be depressed by a lever f. A spring d normally maintains the valve B in its upper position in which a thorough communication is established between various sections of a gas pipe X. When all the valves are shut, the compressed gas in the reservoir R has free communication through the pipe X with the end of the liquid pipe Y, which therefore remains empty of liquid, but as soon as any one of the draw-off valves is opened, the communication through the pipe X is interrupted, and the compressed gas forces liquid up the pipe Y to the particular draw-off cock that has been opened.
