Abstract

6435. Brandwood, J., Brandwood, T., and Brandwood, E. March 15. Spindle apparatus.- A slightly conical perforated bobbin C, preferably closed at its upper end, is secured to an approximately cylindrical base E, which is internally formed to fit the shoulder of the spindle A and the nipple G of a dyeing or like machine, and has three beads H or the like to engagethe tongue holder of the shuttle of an automatic loom so that rewinding of the yarn for any of the processes referred to is rendered unnecessary. A bush B is provided on the spindle to engage the bobbin during winding. The base E, which may be made hollow to reduce its weight, may be secured to the exterior of the bobbin by a hollow plug J, Fig. 4, the plug being of proper shape to fit the spindle and dyeing nipple or it may be secured to the bobbin by screwing or it may be secured in a slightly tapered neck of the bobbin which is compressed thereon or secured thereto by a tightly fitting ring. Suitable ribs or the like K are preferably formed on the bobbin to hold the yarn in place.
