Abstract

191,247. Juckes, T. C., (trading as Efficient Motor & Engineering Co.). Nov. 30, 1921. Controlling variablespeed gearing.-Selector bars 1, 2, Figs. 1 and 2, of a changespeed gear are operated by means of studs 3, 4 which project inwards through a drum cam 7 and through guide slots 11 in a fixed sleeve 10 within the. cam. The slots 11 cause the studs to slide as the cam 7 is turned through toothed segments 15, 16, Fig. 3, from a pivoted lever 13. The lever 13 has a spring locking-pin 19. The upper part 23 of the lever 13 is adapted to be adjusted so as to bring the handle within reach of, say, the driver of the vehicle. There is a pivot joint 24 and holes 25 for effecting the adjustment. In a modification, the operating-lever has a lateral movement for unlocking against the action of a spring bolt at the pivot centre of the lever.
