Abstract
29,617. Michel, G. Dec. 26, 1911, [Convention date]. Upward-current classifiers.-In an apparatus for washing and separating minerals and the like, the material passes from a hopper 1 to a vertical tube 2 mounted in a vessel 5 and having a distributing-cone 4 at its lower end. Water is supplied from a vessel 12 in which a constant level is maintained, and a valve 3 is provided above the tube 2. The light materials and water overflow into a launder 7 while the heavy materials pass through an inverted conical screen 8 to a compartment 9 to which water is also supplied and from which the materials may be removed automatically through adjustable outlets 10 provided with inspection plugs 14. Two or more of the devices may be arranged in series.
