28,445. Cheney, C. W. Dec. 10. Stud-and-slot fastenings.-In a fastener for bags, purses, &c. in which a spring-operated sliding bolt in one member engages a notched stud on the other member (not shown), the back plate x, which contains the sliding bolt x<2> and to which lugs x<3> for applying the fastening are attached, is fixed in position with regard to the front part a by superposed clamping- plates c, d, themselves secured in position by the turned-over edges a<2> of the other part. Fig. 2 shows a back view of the fastener, and Fig. 3 a section on A B. The plates c, d may be formed without a gap, a slit being provided for the lugs x<3>; or the two plates may be joined across the top and bottom, forming a single clamping-plate.
