Abstract

3967. Rigrot, G. Feb. 20, 1911, [Convention date]. Waste-preventing valves.-A waste-preventing valve closing after a predetermined interval of time consists of a main valve b suspended on a diaphragm a and normally kept closed on its seat R by the pressure of water passing from the inlet S through an aperture in a plate b<2> removably secured to the valve. The effective area. of the aperture in the plate b<2> can be varied by changing a needle b<1> which passes through the aperture, for another of different diameter, the needle b<1> being removably secured in a screw-plug p. The plate b<2> can also be replaced by another having an aperture of different size. To open the valve b, the pressure behind the diaphragm a is relieved by opening a valve g and allowing the water behind the diaphragm to escape through channels e, q to the outlet m. The valve g is operated by a plug k having a projection j adapted to engage a stem i depending from the valve g. The plug k also has an opening l controlling the passage m. through which the water passes when the valve b opens. The opening l is arranged so that the passage m is closed when the plug k is turned to open the valve g. An air-reservoir may be screwed to the casing at n.
