22,138. Buckland, A. J. Oct. 7. Swivelling couplings. - An electric coupling for portable electric tools, laundry irons, electroliers, &c., wherein relative rotational movement between the supply conductors and the leads of the tool &c. is required, comprises a stationary member a, b and an outer rotary member carried by ball bearings on the flange a<1> of the stationary member. The stationary member has a tubular part b carrying, slidably mounted on its exterior, two or more non- conducting disks c with metal contact-rings c' mounted thereon, rotation being prevented by a feather b<1>, and the rotary member carries on its interior two or more insulating rings g having contact-rings g<1>. The supply conductors j pass, through slots b<2> in the tubular member, to the contact-rings c<1>, and the tool leads i are led to the rings g'. Springs k, l serve to press the contact-rings together, and ball bearings may be introduced between the contact-rings. The earth circuit of the laundry iron &c. may be formed through the metal of the coupling.
