Wood - screws. - A wood-screw of the kind having a shallow conical head merging abruptly into the shank is provided on each side with a groove 5 extending from the ends of the cross groove B in the head to the point of the screw. The grooves 5 form a free passage for shavings, and 'are adapted for the use of a countersinking screwdriver D, Fig. 4, provided with cutting-edges C.
