Abstract

6755. Weil, J. A. March 17. Producers; producer plant.-In operating a suction gas-producer for supplying a gas-engine, the heat of the exhaust gases is utilized to raise the temperature, under atmospheric pressure, of water, which is then run into another vessel, where it comes into intimate contact with the air for the producer. By this means, when using sea or other impure water, deposition of scale is prevented in the vessel in which the exhaust gases part with heat to the water. In one arrangement, the exhaust gases from the engine g pass by a pipe h to a tubular heat interchanger i, from which the hot water is pumped to the top of a coke tower n. Air for the blast is drawn through a casing b surrounding the producer, and passes up through the coke tower, becoming saturated with vapour from the hot water, and passing through the pipe o to the producer.
