May 10 Producers.-In a gas-producer of the combined up-and-down-draught type, the blast, which may be air, exhaust gas, or steam, or a combination of these, is supplied to a chamber 13 which is heated by and surrounds the gas withdrawal passage 6. The chamber 13 leads to inlets 14, 17, 18 in the upper part of the producer and inlet 15 in the lower part. The gas is withdrawn through an annular passage 6 having outlets 7, 8 at opposite sides opening into the passage 9 leading to the main gas eduction pipe 10. Clinkering is prevented by the water chamber 11, and by regulating the proportion of the blast gases.
