Abstract

Junction boxes are filled with insulating-material by using a funnel adapted to form such a tight joint with the box that a head of the liquid insulating-material can be held in the funnel on the box. The funnel is also provided with means for keeping its contents hot. The funnel a is screwed into the box, and is jacketed as at b, and the space between the two funnel walls is filled with heated compound. When the box is being filled, most of the air in the box is allowed to escape through the vents e, e<1>. When the filling is almost complete, these vents are closed and the rest of the air escapes through the vent passage c in the stem of the funnel. When liquid commences to escape, however, the funnel is screwed right home so as to close the passage c, and the funnel is left in position for some time to maintain a head of hot liquid in the funnel on the box.
