Screw propellers.-The blades are corrugated on their driving face and stiffened by a strip of wood or metal c which follows the line of the leading edge. This edge d is thickened and curved as shown in Fig. 2 and further strengthened by doubling the edge of the back face plate over the leading edge. One half of the back of the blade is preferably left smooth. The corrugations are sloped at an angle between 45 and 65 degrees, and the blades are designed so that they will yield to the resistance of the fluid.
