Abstract
187,999. Parker, J. W., and Bamber, H. W. Aug. 12, 1921. Scrubbers a n d washers. - In a gas scrubber for automobiles and the like, a cylindrical receptacle b is provided with an inner segmental shell j the lower edges of which carry a grate f supporting a mass of coke or similar material. Water is maintained by a float chamber i at constant level in the receptacle b, this level being at or near the level of the grate f. Gas enters the receptacle b through a pipe a and is withdrawn from the segmental shell through a pipe h. The coke charge may be sprayed with water from the top. The lower edges of the segmental shell may be serrated, the serrations being partly immersed in the water.
