Pistons, balancing laterally. -In order to prevent piston slap in an internal-combustion or other engine, the pressure surface B of the piston is flat and inclined thus giving a resultant thrust of the fluid - pressure against the cylinder walls. This thrust is in the direction of the lateral thrust of the connecting-rod either during the compression stroke or during the firing stroke, preferably the former.
