Abstract

173,549. Satterthwaite, A. July 20, 1920. Regulating and controltransmitting gear for winding-apparatus. - Relates to brake and switch operating mechanism for use with electric hoists of the type in which the moving element of the switch is not directly connected to the brake arm. The switch comprises a rectilinearly-moving contact-member 7, 8 enclosed, within a switch-box and operated by an external rod 6 guided by the plate 4 within the supports 5. The plate 4 is resiliently connected with a similar plate 3 which is engaged, without any positive connection thereto, by the brake lever 1 when the lever is raised, thereby raising the switch rod to complete or break as desired the circuit of an automatic or like starter for the motor. When the brake lever is released, the switch member falls under its own weight.
