Abstract

171,600. Rees, E. S. G. Oct. 21, 1920. Addition to 159,927. Propelling, steering, and manoeuvring by water jets; propeller guards; rudders.-The pallets of augmenter tubes of the kind described in the parent Specification are formed with bulges which act as nozzles in conjunction with the walls of the tube. The pallets b, Fig. 1, are pivoted at c and have at the front a bulge d with flat portion d' adapted to contact with the walls a of the augmenter tube in the full ahead position, and have, at the rear, lips d<2> which contact in the astern position. The walls a of the augmenter tube may have a beaded edge a<1 >which coacts with the bulge to form a more efficient nozzle when manoeuvring.
