168,366. Pratt, E. F., and Hill, S. H. May 25, 1920. Closure Members, doublebeat.-A valve for admitting additional air to the induction pipe, carburettor, &c. of an internal-combustion engine comprises a conical valve 1 slidably mounted in a casing 2 having a fixed seating, the valve being actuated from a distance by Bowden wire or like tension mechanism 6 and having sliding guide members 3, 8 and a tapered part 10 to control the area of the path through the valve. In the form shown, the tapered part 10 is formed by tapering flats on the cylindrical guide member 8. Airadmission ports 7 may be controlled by relative rotation of the two parts of the casing.
