Current motors.-A current motor comprises a series of flat paddles mounted on a structure carried by cranks so that the paddles are always vertical to the stream as the structure revolves. To avoid dead-points, several structures are mounted on common crank-shafts carried by a floating pontoon provided with baffles to direct the water on to the paddles. Fig. 1 shows the motor in plan view. Three ladder-like structures 17 carry paddles 18 and actuate crank-shafts 12, 13 on pontoons 1, 2, which are fixed together by members 9 and bracing-wires 11. The pontoons are shaped to direct the water between them on to the paddle races, which may be separated partitions 8. Side baffles 4. 5, 6 may be used to direct the current through passages in the floats on to the paddles. Ejector baffles 10 may be used to increase the flow in the main race. The paddles 8 may be removable or adjustable with respect to the depth of immersion.
