Abstract

233,191. Gebers, F. July 1, 1924. Propeller shafts, arrangement of. - A ship is fitted with both fully and semi-submerged propellers. When an odd number of semi-submerged propellers is used, one of them is constructed as a counter-propeller or is fitted with separate guide apparatus. The semi-submerged propellers can also be arranged so that the blade circles intersect. Two semi-submerged propellers 2, 3 are arranged behind a flat vertical stern 1, and a fully submerged propeller 6 is arranged beneath the stern its shaft 7 being carried in a fin bracket 8. With all propellers working at high speed the tail water is at level A, and when cruising with propeller 6 only the tail water is at level B.
