Abstract

166,244. Leicester, A. E. Aug. 25, 1919. Levels, regulating.-A valve apparatus for maintaining a constant level of liquid in a tank or for delivering predetermined measured quantities, has an inlet valve actuated by variations of air or gas pressure within a closed container automatically controlled by the height of liquid in the container, which height is determined by an adjustable vent for the air or gas. A tank 2 fitted with a valve 8 communicates with an open tank 5 by a pipe 4 and a vent pipe 7 the length of which is adjustable by means of a sleeve. Liquid enters the tanks through the pipe 3 and valve 8, and after the vent pipe 7 has been sealed the pressure rises in tank 2 and gradually closes the valve 8 by acting on the diaphragm 10. In a modification, a single closed tank is used and the vent pipe has an adjustable pivoted arm connected to an indicating pointer. A three-way cock is fitted to the pipe 3.
