Abstract

Planes, construction of.-The leading or tailing edges of wings are reinforced by edge-caps consisting of a strip of sheet metal 1, rolled to the shape of the aerofoil contour, and a second metal strip 2 of trough-like section the edges 3 of which fit and are secured to the edges of the strip 1. The booms of the wing ribs are secured to the edges of the caps.
