1536253 Age-resisting polymers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 26 July 1977 [9 Aug 1976] 31312/77 Headings C3P and C3J [Also in Division C2] Age-resisting polymers of C 4-10 conjugated dienes, C 2-20 non-conjugated cyclic or acyclic olefins and/or C 2-10 vinyl monomers having attached thereto through the S atom ageresisting groups of formula where R is phenyl, optionally substituted with C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy or with -NR 7 R 8 where R 7 and R 8 are H or C 1-4 alkyl; C 5-12 cycloalkyl; a branched acyclic group having a chain of 1-12 C atoms each of which may be substituted with 1 or 2 C 1-3 alkyl; or a C 7-14 alicyclic, aralkyl or aryl group; m is 0 or 1; n is 0-12 and R 1-6 are H or C 1-5 alkyl; may be prepared by polymerizing the monomers in the presence of the corresponding mercaptan, or by reacting or curing a polymer having a reactive double bond with or in the presence of such as mercaptan.
