1443595 Non-conjugated diene polymers GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 22 April 1974 [14 May 1973] 17452/74 Heading C3P Non-conjugated diolefins of the formula where each of R 1 to R 3 is H, alkyl or aryl and R 4 is alkyl, benzyl or aryl, are homopolymerized or mixtures of such monomers only are copolymerized in the presence of cationic or co-ordination catalysts. Examples refer to the polymerization of cis-1,4-hexadiene or trans-1,4- hexadiene or a mixture thereof, 4-methyl-1,4 hexadiene / 5- methyl - 1,4 - hexadiene mixture, 4-methyl- or 5-methyl-1,4-hexadiene, and a trans - 1,4 - hexadiene / 4 - methyl - 1,4 - hexadiene / 5 - methyl - 1,4 - hexadiene mixture using Et 3 Al / VCl 4 / TiCl 4 , α - T : Cl 3 / Et 3 AlCl, Et 3 Al / α - T : Cl 3 , EtAlCl 2 , : Bu 3 Al / α - T : Cl 3 or Et 3 Al / α - TiCl 3 / α - picoline, hexamethylphosphoramide or triphenylphosphine.
