Abstract

153,620. Clarke, W. E. June 21, 1919. Drying-apparatus.-Apparatus for drying varnished or gummed sheets of paper &c. comprises a casing A, Fig. 1, containing a heating-chamber B having heating-tubes F and a diaphragm plate E, and a hood J which communicates through a tube O with the heating-chamber and through tubes P, Fig. 4, with pipes M placed within the drying-chamber N, N<1> and having nozzles or orifices V through which heated air is sprayed upon the sheets X, which are conveyed through the drying chamber upon an endless band S. Atmospheric air passes through a slot Y in the casing into the heating-chamber, wherein it is heated by Bunsen burners G. A fan II draws heated air from the casing and spent air from the drying-chamber and discharges the mixture through the heating-chamber into the hood. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 102,677.
