Abstract

1525533 Tamper-indicating plastics cap B A COCHRANE 23 Jan 1976 [13 Feb 1975] 02754/76 Heading B8T A plastics cap comprises a top 2 and integral inner and outer skirts 6, 4 depending therefrom, the outer skirt 4 having upper and lower circumferential score lines 14, 16 defining a tear band 22 therebetween, a tear tab 24 attached to the band 22 and extending outwardly and downwardly therefrom, a weakened area in the band 22 adjacent the tab 24, and circumferential beads 18, 20 as the only beads on the cap. The score lines 14, 16 may be on the inner or outer surface of the skirt 4. The weakened area in the tear band 22 may be a gap or a score line extending between the score lines 14, 16. The inner skirt 6 has a chamfered edge 32 to guide the container lip into the annulus between the skirts 4, 6. The beads 18, 20 engage in grooves in the container neck and prevent removal of the cap prior to removal of the tear band. Examples of plastics material include polyethylene and polystyrene.
