Abstract

1523505 Wire stripping D WARD 29 March 1976 [3 April 1975] 12590/76 Heading H2C [Also in Division B3] A tool for stripping an insulated wire and wrapping it round a terminal comprises a bit 1 axially slidable and rotatable in a sleeve 11, and having a recess 4 communicating by a groove 5 with its free end, in use the bit 1 being pushed axially forward until the end of recess 4 projects beyond the free end of the sleeve, Fig. 13, a wire being inserted into recess 4 up to its end 30, the bit 1 being then withdrawn axially into sleeve 11 so that sharp edge 31 on bit 1 coacts with sharp edge 32 in sleeve 11 to shear the insulation, continued withdrawal of bit 1 stripping the insulation, the tool 1 then being placed over a terminal which projects into aperture 3 in the free end of bit 1, and the bit 1 then being rotated, with or without sleeve 11, to wrap the wire round the terminal with the first turn still insulated. A wire cutting notch, Figs. 11, 12 (not shown) may be provided in bit 1 or sleeve 11. The tool may be hand or power driven.
